On November 2nd, “BREAK THE VOICE ” 2024 COLLECTIVE ART EXHIBITION FOR ASIAN RISING STARS opened at ISOLART GALLERY. This exhibition brings together pioneering artists from across Asia, showcasing works spanning diverse media, including painting, installation, and video art. Through their unique perspectives, the artists deconstruct notions of self, employing rich visual languages and diverse forms of expression to infuse their personal experiences and emotions into their creations. These works collectively construct a form of artistic expression imbued with a sense of collective consciousness. A shared theme among the pieces lies in their exploration of the intricate relationships between the individual and society, as well as between personal identity and historical narratives, illustrating the shift from self-awareness to collective identity

At the opening ceremony, the curator  Yuanqi Cao、Xue Rui and Rossella Tesi introduced: “Art is a transformation of power from the individual to the collective, a process that is particularly evident among contemporary Asian artists.” The participating artists in this exhibition explore the relationship between self-identity and collective recognition through self-deconstruction and reconstruction. Amid the wave of globalization, they present the complexity and diversity of Asian culture from a broad and expansive perspective.

At the opening ceremony, the audience shared how the artworks sparked reflections on daily life and identity. One attendee remarked:

“The exhibition’s pieces are deeply relatable, offering a sense of immersion by showing how the artists narrate their stories through diverse approaches. While expressing their understanding of society, the artists also encourage us to rethink our own identities.”

Viewers discovered various perspectives within the works, many of which used subtle personal expressions to touch upon deeper themes of collective memory and historical inheritance. Through a rich visual language, the artists revealed the tension between the individual’s fragility and strength within societal structures, exploring the position of the self in collective culture.
